In Quick Turn of Events, Steven Tyler NOT Leaving Aerosmith

Posted in Rock Music with tags , , , , on November 11, 2009 by Patrick Prince

Nothing could be as frustrating as the Led Zeppelin reunion/no reunion blog items. But this could have the potential. Next week – who knows — Steven Tyler might be quitting Aerosmith once again.

I was skeptical from the beginning, however, since there was no official word from brand Tyler  (as he likes to refer to himself).

Instead, we heard a “I’m not leaving Aerosmith” from Tyler himself, on-stage, at the Joe Perry gig in NY last night. In fact, they went on to perform “Walk This Way” for the fans (video footage above).

Perry must feel real small for jumping the gun (and on Twitter, no less). But, it was obvious, Perry was getting real nervous (more than he wanted to admit). And who the hell knows where Tyler has been. He seems to get in these reclusive moods sometimes, and disappear from the face of the earth,

But it seems awfully appropriate that he’s back.

Rolling Stone Guitarist Ronnie Wood Gets His Divorce

Ron_woodOn the grounds of adultery, the divorce was granted. However, as Rueters points out, “divorce documents made public did not name the person with whom the star committed adultery.”

But we all know who that mystery adulteress is. If you don’t, click here.

Maybe now Ronnie can get back to focusing on music. READ: Call Keith!

Aerosmith Will Look for New Singer. Say It Ain’t So, Joe!

Posted in Rock Music with tags , , on November 10, 2009 by Patrick Prince

aerosmith_perryAerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is now saying that Aerosmith is “not splitting up” but “looking for a new singer to work with.”

Who? Robert Plant?! Because that’s the only singer who’s going to make fans forget about Steven Tyler (for at least a while anyway). And Robert won’t even rejoin Zeppelin.

(Or maybe even Joe himself can do the singing?)

Joe goes onto say:

“As far as replacing Steven, it’s not just about that, it’s also four guys that play extremely well together, and I’m not going to see that go to waste.”

But, maybe the four guys that “play extremely well together” can choose another band name?! Tyler is too ingrained into Aerosmith. And Aerosmith is too much of a rock legacy. The band are no Zeppelin, Who, or Stones, but they are next up. I mean, can you imagine if any of those aforementioned bands had a different singer? Please.

I know your 71 year old … oops, I  mean 61 year old singer just apparently quit. But don’t bring in some 20 something from some tribute band like, say, Judas Priest did.

We all know how that turned out.

34 year old Fuchs also played drums for  exceptional indie bands,  like !!! (pronounced Chk Chk Chk), ambient rock instrumentalists Maserati, Juan Maclean, and Turing Machine.

Juan Maclean stated, “Jerry was one of my best and most loyal friends. He was hands-down the best drummer I have ever played with or seen for that matter.”

Finally Official? Steven Tyler Quits Aerosmith

Posted in Rock Music with tags , , , on November 9, 2009 by Patrick Prince

Aerosmiths-Joe-Perry-and--001 Las Vegas Sun broke the news that guitarist Joe Perry confirms the departure.

Or did he?

“Steven quit as far as I can tell,” Perry said.

“… as far as I can tell” says it all.  It’s not necessarily definite.

And Joe Perry claims Steven has not given 100% to the band in a long time.

Well, the guy is rumored to be 71!

Everyone should wait til an official statement from the band.

And, if it is official: Perry and the guys, please don’t get a new singer. Let’s remember Aerosmith with Steven Tyler as the only frontman.

All Good Things Must Come to an End. Even a Judas Priest Listening Streak

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , , , , , on November 8, 2009 by Patrick Prince

Jim_BartekJim “Superfan” (as he is now labeled) Bartek has declared that his Judas Priest listening streak of the concept album release “Nostradamus” will be coming to an end. The streak will officially stop at 524 straight days on Nov 21st. Why did he pick Nov. 21st? Who knows. Why listen to the album for 524 straight days to begin with?

Thank God he’s stopping though. No one should be listening to something that many times. Not even a good album.

And who has proof that he didn’t skip a day? Who was supervising his “record”? His dog Clarence?

But Bartek wants it to be known that he will still listen to the album (even though — c’mon — he could probably just hum the whole thing).

“Let it be known this does not mean “Nostradamus” will never be played again. I love this record. It will still get a couple of plays a week. How could anyone possibly get tired of a masterpiece? I may miss not playing it everyday but all great things must come to end.”

Yes. “Let it be known.” Proust had his one madeleine cookie. Bartek has an entire Judas Priest concept album.

Thrown Beer Hits Morrissey in the Head

7155964Morrissey was hit in the head with a beer bottle while singing in Liverpool tonight. Glass or plastic was not confirmed, but the singer was in good enough condition to walk offstage very pissed off.

Who would throw beer at Suedehead? I guess, November did spawn a monster after all.

And last month, Morrissey collapsed onstage.

I take all this as a sign: Reform The Smiths!!! Now!

A Christmas Song That’s F’ed Up

Fucked_UpThe Canadian hardcore punk band Fucked Up will re-release the song “Do They Know It’s Christmas” with musicians from bands such as Vampire Weekend, TV On the Radio, Broken Social Scene, No Age, and … well, the band is looking for even more musicians to contribute.

Explains frontman Pink Eyes:

“I’m still waiting on confirmation from Feist, Jarvis Cocker and MIA. We wanted the biggest people we could get. If we could get a Jonas Brother on this, I would get a Jonas Brother.”

Money will go to charities such as Justice For The Missing.

Hey, if Rob Halford can sincerely do good heavy metal Christmas songs, why can’t Fucked Up do a nice remake of “Do They Know It’s Christmas.
