After Roger Daltrey was briefly thrown out of The Who in 1965 for knocking Keith Moon unconcious during an argument at a recording session, Entwistle and Moon considered joining forces with Jimmy Page (who had played the guitar lead on the studio recording of The Who’s “I Can’t Explain” because producer Shel Talmy didn’t think Pete Townshend’s guitar work was good enough) and Jeff Beck in a new band. This band was supposed to be called Led Zeppelin. Of course, Daltrey was let back into The Who after promising to behave and Moon and Entwistle decided not to depart. I wonder what a Page-Beck-Moon-Entwistle Led Zeppelin would’ve sounded like.

Brokendown? Really? It’s amazing how seasoned journalists, like yourselves, keep falling for these ridiculous rumours!

You know what I always thought would make a really good band: Jimmy Page, John Entwistle and Keith Moon. Maybe this announcement brings it a step closer to becoming a reality.
