Amy Poehler of SNL Has a Hit With Sarah Palin Rap

If by chance you missed it, SNL’s Weekend Update had a rap song meant to be delivered by Sarah Palin — but instead it was sung by a very pregnant Amy Poehler while the real Sarah sat there and boogied in her seat to it.

It was a weird display. Amusing, corny-but-funny lyrics with a pretend First-Dude Todd Palin dancing around, emphatically pointing to a map of Alaska. And there was Palin sitting there, with what seemed to be a forced smile, moving her arms around in a mock hip hop dance.

Written by Seth Myers, the lyrics — getting good blog buzz — were obviously pointed right at Palin and not too charitable to the McCain ticket. You had to wonder if she read the lyrics beforehand and wanted to back out of the whole production.

Here’s a lyric sample:

vice president nominee of the gop
gonna need your vote in the next election
can i get a ‘what what’ from the senior section
mccain got experience, mccain got style
but don’t let him freak you out when he tries to smile
cause that smile be creepy
