Lily Allen vs. EMI

In an item posted to her MySpace blog on Saturday, August 16th, British singer Lily Allen took her record company, EMI, to task for the delay in the release of her second album, which has a working title of Stuck On The Naughty Step. In the blog, Allen wrote:

Now , the album . it has been finished for a while now , I don’t really know whats going on with it . The record industry is a very political place at the moment and I am on EMI records , lots of people have been fired or have taken redundancy recently as the company was taken over by a private equity firm called Terra Firma . Many of these people were people assigned to my projects and now i don’t quite know whats going on . I’m sure everyone will find their feet soon enough and i’ll be able to put the album out soon .

NOTE: I left Allen’s blog item as it was written. The typos are hers, not mine.

In other Lily Allen news, there are some new songs in the music player on Allen’s MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/lilymusic. I don’t know if they will be included on the album. In addition, a song cheekily titled “F–k You Very Much” that will be on the album has been leaked on the Internet. To hear “F–k You Very Much,” click below:

I’m guessing that “F–k You Very Much” won’t be as big a hit as “Smile” was for Allen. It is a good tune, though, and a nice rib job on small-minded idiots.

    Damn, John, you couldn’t correct Lily Allen’s grammar. (;
    That would be a full-time job in itself!

    Allen showed a fourth track on her MySpace page, titled “Who’d of Known”, noting that the song had been recorded for the album but would not be included because of legal issues since the chorus is musically……

  4. I think “Who’d of Known” was written by Horndog Hog. I’m just curious as to who does Miss Allen consider to be a small-minded idiot?
