Coldplay: Viva La Plagiarism

Indie band Creaky Boards claim Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin stole one of their songs and put its melody into the title track of Viva La Vida.

Andrew Hoepfner of Creaky Boards claims CM saw the band in a club one night and liked them so much he paid them the ultimate honor: plagiarism.

Coldplay quickly refuted the claim and made lite of it at their gig in London — stating that they really plagiarized Radiohead instead.

See Creaky Boards claim in the video below (pretty interesting way to state it):

Whether the plagiarism claim is true or not (you be the judge) it sure got this indie band from NY a lot of press.

Here’s their MySpace page: www.myspace.com/creakyboards. Maybe you’ll like them better than Coldplay in fact!

  1. I already like them better than Coldplay! It’s no surprise they ripped off a lesser known band. And even though they were joking, they have been plagiarizing Radiohead from their inception! The lamest piano-led band out there! Makes me long for the musical stylings of Ben Folds!
