Cinderella Frontman Tom Keifer’s Vocal Cord Hemorrhages
Yeah. That really sucks.
It’s hard to keep those vocal cords up to snuff as you get older. Keifer’s not 20 and in the 1980s anymore. He’s almost 50 in 2008. However, the guy sounded great and looks better (see above) than he did 20 years ago when he hardcore glammed it.
Cinderella always reminded me of one of those bands that could have avoided the hair metal genre and been better for it. With Keifer’s raspy voice, along with the guitars chugging garage-like AC/DC riffs, the band could have been a rock staple. Instead they fell into the dustbin of a passing phase in rock history.
Due to the vocal hemorrhage (reported to blabbermouth from the band’s management) the band has canceled their tour with Warrant and Lynch Mob. Hopefully, Tom Keifer will get better soon and continue a tour — but it will be hard for the fans to get the latest progress report. The weird thing is, Tom’s Web Site has been seemingly inactive since 2006 (except for the message boards) and his MySpace page is private.
According to Keifer’s manager, it will take weeks before swelling goes down and doctors can tell if surgery will be needed.
Warrant have left a message on their MySpace page, however:
NOTE: Warrant is scrambling to reschedule a summer tour. They still have several shows outside of the Cinderella tour including 2 dates in Canada, Rocklahoma, and several in August. An official statement will soon follow.
Warrant would like to wish Tom a speedy recovery and hopes that the tour may be postponed for another time.
Please check back often for updates. Until then, PLEASE DO NOT email us with questions regarding this matter. I have no more information then I’m giving you here.
Thank you

When you look through the hairspray you see a top-notch, barroom blues band!
June 13, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Cinderella still tours? Who knew? When I read the headline, I thought the he damaged his vocal cords singing in the shower. Who would pay good money to see Cinderella perform in 2008?
May 3, 2009 at 12:09 pm
MANY!!!!
I would also pay to see Him & the band over & over!!!
May 7, 2009 at 1:12 pm
you suck then pal. that’s the best voice you will ever hear!!!!!
June 13, 2008 at 4:32 pm
Good point! Who would pay good money? Maybe some of the same idiots who would pay 10 times as much and a plane fare to London to see a broken-down, incomplete Led Zeppelin.
June 14, 2008 at 9:11 am
whos this Hawk? Whats he some kind of comedian?
June 16, 2008 at 1:26 pm
I’m a jokemaker. I tell jokes…
July 7, 2008 at 12:28 pm

September 1, 2008 at 4:13 am
I DEFINITELY PAY TO GO AND SEE CINDERELLA, AS THEY SAID TOM LOOKS AS HOT !!! NOW THAN HE DID IN THE 80′S. I HOPE HE HAS A GOOD AND SPEEDY RECOVERY, CAUSE THIS IS ONE FAN WHO WOULD PAY TO SEE THEM AGAIN. I WOULD WALK THE “LAST MILE” TO SEE THEM.
September 9, 2008 at 8:10 am
Whether Cinderella has become(or not) a staple in the rock music
arena ,does not hide the fact that Tom Keifer is one of the great voices
ever,it’s gutsy,passionate, not to mention he’s a great frontman,guitarist,
not to mention his piano playing.
I have never seen Cinderella(sadly)but even Tom at 47(who by the way is still smoking hot) I would pay easily to see.
I hope that he recovers so I can see that day.
Keifer Rules.
May 3, 2009 at 12:25 pm
I agree…& U R SOooooo RIGHT about Tom!!!
I have been to 2 of their concerts…They out shined the headliner the 1st time I ever saw them & I was hooked totally!!!
The 2nd Concert they headlined & KICKED ROYAL ASS!
Tom has been so underrated as an artist …it’s truly a shame!
January 23, 2012 at 6:37 pm
so true, i hope he makes a big comeback and shows his gift.. God bless ya!!
September 15, 2008 at 9:06 pm
I payed over three hundred dollars to see Cinderella front row seat at their first show of the year…. i would have traveled from Alabama to Tennessee, paid to stayin a hotel if i wasn’t too pumped up from the concert to drive home and talk about it for the next several months….
I also bought a second seat ticket that was at table 22 and was a vip meet and greet ticket! So I was prepared any amount to see my favorite musician! Tom Keifer is a Genius! You could learn a lot from him!

Tom’s Myspace page is NOT set to private. Follow this link:
http://www.myspace.com/tomkeifer
Just an observation: funny how the comments coming from the ladies are kinder and a lot more supportive towards Tom than any of the others written by the guys ;-)
I feel Tom must be going through a really frustrating time. To me he comes across like a decent, private man… imagine how he must feel having all these people and the media talking about his health problems rather than his achievements as an artist!
I wish him all the best.
January 23, 2012 at 6:40 pm
I’m a man and these other men are probably jealous or bitter about a break up anyway, God bless Tom, Cinderella rocks!!
November 21, 2008 at 3:18 pm
First of all, you are an ass, Tom is not almost fifty, he’s 44. Know the facts before you rag on the guy. And hair metal is awesome and they are one of the best hair metal bands. Go back to listening to the crap you so obviously like. Cinderella has enough fans without the likes of you
December 9, 2008 at 12:27 pm
He’ll be 48 next January…
December 23, 2008 at 4:43 pm
I appreciate how Tom always gave it his all when he performed live. He always gave a good show and I wish I could see him once more. Hope he gets better soon and please keep us posted on his condition!
February 4, 2009 at 11:18 am

February 11, 2009 at 5:18 pm
I didn’t shove it, but I’m back anyway! Obviously you don’t detect sarcasm very well, or read any of my other interesting comments. I got Cinderella’s back! I’m the one that pointed out that the Boss flipped his guitar around his neck at the Super Bowl and how it was a rip-off of Cinderella’s signature move, 20 years ago.
February 11, 2009 at 8:16 pm
great job guitar star. couldn’t agree with you more. thank GOD for xm/sirrius stations or where would we be without it, the crap they play most of the time makes me wonder, but i do know that there’ll never be MUSIC like the 80′s or BANDS……… just alot of wannaaaabeee’s. i’m not trying to offend anyone so don’t take it personal…..
February 11, 2009 at 11:26 pm
thanx. i feel the same way no one appreciates what we had and still have today, if i were you i would be trying to offend people they say they know what real rock n roll is and there true fan’s there just a bunch of poser’s trying to be cool. rock die hard fans rock on

February 12, 2009 at 10:17 am
hey grrrrrrrrr, how do you know the guys from BRITNY FOX wear wigs? just for the record the band is spelled w/o the E, unless you meant BRITNEY SPEARS and you meant WIGGER???????

February 12, 2009 at 11:09 pm
hey, you read my mind jew!!
February 13, 2009 at 12:33 am
I was crushed to find out that the 08 tour was canceled and Tom was having a severe recurrence of vocal cord problems. Cinderella is one of the most under-rated rock bands of all times.
February 13, 2009 at 12:22 pm
yea you know you’re kinda right,Suzanne that’s what i was talking “bout in my last couple of comments how they don’t get the reapect and thankyou .and the you rock they deserve.i don’t know what i would do without them.well all the 80′s metal.well mainly the glam and heavy metal part.lol<:}
February 13, 2009 at 2:45 pm

February 13, 2009 at 3:42 pm
His site has not been updated for a while now.
February 13, 2009 at 4:18 pm
realy cause i was on his MYSPACE today it said that he was on today
i’m not talking ’bout his site…
February 13, 2009 at 5:26 pm
I’m so happy that there’s finally a more popular, active posting than Paramore! Let’s not forget the other under-rated band of our time: Tesla! I know they made a lot of people uncomfortable by stirring up the radio controversy, but they were the cowboys of the modern day!
February 13, 2009 at 9:07 pm
yea maybe HAWK but they still rock i’m going to see tesla tommrow night!!!
February 14, 2009 at 1:15 pm
Enjoy the show, Star! Maybe you, me and Jew should start a rock band!
February 14, 2009 at 1:55 pm
that would be so awsome
February 14, 2009 at 2:12 pm
hey man that would be so cool if only i could play or sing, (HAHA) thats always been a childhood dream, that or playing a professional sport? but i can play a mean air guitar, so i guess that leaves me out. sorry!!!!!

GROW-UP MAN!!!…PLEASE!!!
February 15, 2009 at 3:57 am
hey.Porno Paul does this mean you won’t back on here again?i hope
February 15, 2009 at 10:19 am
wow, who is this guy? i didn’t realize that chatting online was the reason the economy was the way it is. my advice to PORNO PAUL is to spend your money on the economy instead of on the porno internet and god only knows what your looking at,,,,, so find yourself a WOMAN and then maybe you won’t be spending all your time in yhe SHITTER!!!! don’t spend so much time with MARY PALM AND HER 5 SISTERS……….
April 25, 2009 at 3:02 am
LOL!!! Good One Jew lol! Couldn’t have said it better myself. A/B Tom’s condition I was hoping to see him in concert again but gotta take care of himself first and now Bret had to cancel because of severe laryngitis….Good Lord! I pray for them all..
February 15, 2009 at 3:42 pm

February 16, 2009 at 9:06 am
i personally don’t want to turn this into a trash-talking site but some people just make it happen, lets try to make everything possitive and just chat unless it needs to go the other way. BE COOL!!!!!!
February 16, 2009 at 2:57 pm
you’re right jew let’s keep it cool if where going to go that way then
ummm have you ever seen cinderlla in concert.
February 16, 2009 at 4:39 pm
hey guitat star, actually i’ve seen CINDERELLA about 5or 6 times with the most recent in 07 at hampton beach ballroom casino club. great show, but i may be bias as there at the top of my chart. i was hoping to catch there 08 tour but the tour was cancelled as you know. caught VAN HALEN’S show last year in manchester nh after a few postponements but it did happen and they were really awesome. we have MOTLEY CRUE coming up on st. patricks day and want to go along with my WIFE but $$$$$$ may be the issue but we’ll see….
February 17, 2009 at 4:37 pm
Wow, what did I miss? Sorry I’ve been absent last couple of days. I’ve been writing songs for my concept album. It’s set in the future. Jack Kerouac comes back to life at the dawn of the apocalypse, and he does the whole road-trip thing.
This blog has been about trash-talk long before you guys came on board, thanks in no small part, to me :-)
Seems like we got rid of that Horndog Hog, for now!
February 19, 2009 at 12:22 pm

I thought Cinderella broke up in, like, 1990. WTF?!?
March 12, 2009 at 8:15 am
i going to have an 80′s party at my apartment in manhattan…anyone in distance is more than welcome to come…except this hawk dude…he sounds like some loser who doesn’t have a job, lives alone in a basement, and goes to the library to use the computer everyday…he’s probably like 65yrs old…
CREEPY MAN!!!
March 12, 2009 at 6:43 pm
I’m lot older than that, I’m the ghost of Powerline Past from the future. What the hell is you problem you horndog hog!
March 18, 2009 at 4:32 pm
I get a kick out of the people who slam the 80s groups, lets face it, these guys could play and sing like no others and it was a billion dollar industry they had created. The writing for the most part was at a high level and very melodic such as the writing that Tom and his gang [CIDERELLA] did. The writing that Tom did was great and the acoustic stuff was so full of heart and soul[wow]. Being a guitarist myself i have covered 10-12 songs of Cinderella’s and they played out great and they JAMMED. Lets look at the fact that they are performers and performers do wear stage clothes and that is part of the professionalism of the group plus they had the right idea about who they wanted to play to [where the girls go, the guys go], that should explain why most of the slammers are guys. the bottom line here is; the guys would go to these shows with the ladies and discover the quality of these bands but we’re unwilling to admit it, what a shame they had to sneak around with thier 80s recordings LOL The last thing i want to say is this, to Tom, you ROCK DUDE. Thanx for all the great music.
March 18, 2009 at 6:02 pm
Ditto! Tom’s nobody’s fool!!!
March 20, 2009 at 1:38 am
Thanx Hawk, I think the shame of it all is that we are not looking at the whole person when these things happen to a Rock Star and how they feel about it for them selves. We can only hope for the best for this talented soul and i’m sure Tom will be back again in one way or another. The bottom line is this, we need music like this to balance us out. we as a people can’t survive very well on the stuff some of the bands of today are selling. The 80s theme was and is all about life and good times for the most part.
THANX TOM, CINDERELLA, …………………………….JOHNNY ROCK
March 20, 2009 at 4:22 pm
Nobody knows how to have fun anymore. Keep on Rockin’, Johnny, while we still live in a free world!
March 20, 2009 at 10:46 pm
it’s all a matter of the individuals opinion…that being said…mine is…
METAL SUCKED!!!
but…that’s just for me…
p.s. this hawk dude seems to just go back and forth…and he’s comments are so unoriginal…down right uninteresting…
March 21, 2009 at 12:37 pm
If you hate metal you came to the right blog. The only time it gets covered is when it’s being mocked.
March 21, 2009 at 2:39 pm
What metal are we talking about? The 80s band that we are talking about
[CINDERELLA] IS NOT A METAL BAND. Back in the day that would have been bands like JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN, etc. I would refer to the bands of the 80s like CINDERELLA, DEF LEPPARD, BON JOVI, MOTLEY CRUE as Classic Rock, Hard Rock, or just rock. The term metal is really quit generic, it does tend to blanket a lot of music, almost everything about rock depending on how you want to look at it. The 80s bands used a lot of the metal guitar tones but it was about subject matter and appearance mostly for any classifications. My opinion is that the term metal came from the establishment who wanted to label what they hated. we just liked the term because we are so anti them guys and it sounded cool. I could see 2 main classes, 1. the 80s bands, 2. the 80s metal bands. and that starts another debate. C-YA I have to mix again tonight. JOHNNY ROCK……
March 23, 2009 at 4:38 pm
There was such a sub-category as “Hair-Metal”, however unfair you think that is. Porno Paul was making a blanket statement about all metal although he has listened to very little of it. Powerline used to cover Metal in all it’s forms back in the day. I was just making a point about how it has no identity now.
March 23, 2009 at 7:41 pm
I agree with Johnny. Cinderella was never a metal band. However, they got glumped into that hair-metal genre. It’s unfortunate because they were better than that.
March 23, 2009 at 11:20 pm
I forgot about the hair metal/hair band label, shame on me since i used to be the guitarist in JET CITY out of minneapolis. We did the 80s tribute thing for 7 some years. I really don’t take offense to any labels as long as they are accurate and not using words like crappy when speaking about anything i would be affiliated with. We only did 1 cinderella tune [Gypsy Road ] because of vocal reasons, imagine that. Tom really gave of him self to do for his fans what he did. THANX……..
March 24, 2009 at 12:26 am
Would Cinderella have been taken more seriously if they didn’t have the poufy hair and the spandex outfits, and if they had a better name than Cinderella? Just curious . . .
March 25, 2009 at 11:02 am
I don’t think so because their fan base was more female and they tend to throw them selves into things a little more aggressively. BINGO WE HAVE A WINNER…….
March 25, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Elvis. The Beatles and The Stones. The Doors. Even the Chairman of the Board. They all started out as teeny-bopper bands with mostly screaming teenage girls as their main audience. So I think Cinderella are in good company.
March 26, 2009 at 11:28 am
TOM I LOVE YOU
April 12, 2009 at 5:08 am
I think it’s time to put Jet City back together.
WHY BECAUSE IF I CAN FIND A TENOR I CAN DO ANYTHING AS LONG AS HE CAN DO SOME RASP SO WE CAN DO SOME CIDERELLA
May 18, 2009 at 4:50 pm
say, i know toms address and wanted to send him a letter… asking him about his voice and cinderella and so on…do you think thats gay or will bother him?
May 19, 2009 at 11:26 am
I think he would be delighted to hear from you!
May 19, 2009 at 3:22 pm
Are you sure?
May 20, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Yes. I think it would cheer him up. But since this post is almost a year old, I wonder if he’s fully recovered. Let us know if you hear back from him and keep checking Powerline AD for alll up to date music news.
May 20, 2009 at 5:06 am
I love 80′s rock especially what they called Glam Rock or Glam Metal e.g Poison, and CINDERELLA… As we know 80′s Rock will never die.. nothing can be compared to that era… TOM is one of my fave vocalist why? He is talented, gifted musician who can sing and play not just sing. His voice is unique. Well, Tom.. hope you will get well soon. God Bless You. You are so blessed.
June 2, 2009 at 2:17 pm
