Fighting Words: Kaiser Chiefs’ Frontman Slags Oasis

Kaiser Chiefs are the new band in town (so to speak), according to them. And Oasis need to get out of their way.

Frontman Ricky Wilson told The Sun that Oasis has:

“… disappeared up their own arse. They think they’re Led Zeppelin. They’re not. Music has moved on and I think we are the band that most music fans would see as their successor.”

Ouch. I like The Kaiser Chiefs, but this statement — like many of the U.K. bands’ tendency to trash talk — is ridiculous.

Bullocks to the trash talk express. I’m sick of it.

  1. John Curley Says:

Maybe Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs should fight Noel Gallagher of Oasis in a steel-cage match to decide which band is the best in Britain.

The undercard of the fight could be Tom Clarke of The Enemy vs. Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys. Or Tom Clarke vs, Johnny Borell of Razorlight. Or Tom Clarke vs. the leader of any other band that he has slagged off in the press. (Surprise, surprise, though–Clarke was recently quoted in the UK music press saying that he really likes the Kaiser Chiefs.)
