Dumbest Song Ever?

Ted Nugent released what is perhaps the dumbest song ever. Lyrics that any two-year old could write, in order to support one of his political causes: I Am The NRA.

The lyrics:

“I Am The NRA”

When I think of freedom,
I got my Bill Of Rights
US Constitution is my guiding light
Our founding fathers, they were not confused
I always celebrate self-evident truths
I AM THE NRA I AM THE NRA
I am we the people
I don’t need no OK
My pursuit of happiness will take me all the way
If you hate slavery as much as we all do
Come on join the fight, I’ll tell you what we do
I AM THE NRA I AM THE NRA
If you hate tyrants and dictators and are ready to give freedom a whirl
Celebrate the NRA and the shot heard round the world
The shot heard round the world

Give freedom a whirl?

Whether you support the NRA or not is besides the point. This song just reeks of immaturity all-around. The NRA needs to get a better and more mature songwriter as a spokesperson as the once entertaining Ted Nugent has grown tired.

I miss Charlton Heston already.

But they love Nuge anyway, as the video below shows. At a recent NRA convention, Ted pimps his new song to the masses.

  1. John Curley Says:

    Ted Nugent is still alive?

I guess we just found a has-been rocker who is even less relevant than Dave Mustaine!

  2. This is not a real song, it’s a political ad. The dumbest song ever is still the Chili Pepper’s “Magic Johnson!” Anybody want some Magic Johnson? Uh…no thanks, Anthony. Although he has been HIV free for some time. Do you think you will ever have a healthcare that pro athletes get?

Mustaine writes songs of great social import; and he hates war, just like you. But if you don’t like him, try Joey Belladona in the Anthrax years.

    Hawk:

I’m just breaking your balls with my Dave Mustaine comments. I’m not familiar with his stuff at all. I can’t name one Megadeth song.

You wrote that Mustaine “hates war, just like” me. Uhhhh . . . yeah, okay. Doesn’t EVERYBODY hate war? Are you implying that you like war? WTF?

Anthrax, man. Now THERE”S a band!!! (And a New York City band as well!) “I’m The Man” is one of my favorite songs of the 1980s.

  4. What a coincidence! I was just breaking Pat’s balls about his Nov 10th posting about how Mustaine was overlooked as a socio-political lyricist. I’ve never owned a Megadeth album and never seen him in concert. But I do like that video where he says: “Hello me, it’s me.” And I like that song he sings in french.

As for war, it’s good for population control, although this one ain’t getting the job done. And once they’re over, there is always an economic boon.
