BBC 6 Music Web Site Currently Features Great Sold On Song Program From 2006 With Paul Weller
One of my favorite things about the Internet is that the Web pages of the British radio stations have a great deal of their programming available for on-demand listening. So if you miss a program when it goes out live, you can very likely hear it at a time more suitable for you via the station’s Web site.
On this note, the BBC 6 Music Web site is currently featuring a really great edition of their Sold on Song program from 2006 with The Modfather himself, Paul Weller. During the two-part program, which is hosted by Mark Lamarr, Weller is interviewed by Lamarr, takes questions from the audience, explains the origin of some of his songs, and even talks about the chord sequence of certain songs. Weller also played acoustic versions of several of his songs, incuding “Hung Up,” “Wild Wood,” “English Rose,” “Back In The Fire,” “Amongst Butterflies,” and “That’s Entertainment.”
It was really fantastic to have the opportunity to hear Weller in the setting of the Sold on Song program. And it’s a shame that American radio doesn’t have programs like Sold on Song anymore.
To hear trhe Paul Weller edition of Sold on Song from 2006, go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/pia/. On the right side of the page, under where it says “LISTEN AGAIN TO THIS SHOW,” there are audio links that appear as follows:
