Myrmekiaphila Neilyoungi

There’s a new species of spider discovered and the biologist named it after Neil Young. Says the species founder Jason Bond:

“With regards to Neil Young, I really enjoy his music and have had a great appreciation of him as an activist for peace and justice.”

As long as the spider isn’t poisonous, I guess that name fits.

Neil isn’t the first rock musician named after a new species. Roy Orbison got that honor for being named after a species of beetle: the whirligig beetle, or Orectochilus orbisonorum.

It really should have been a Beatle instead.
