Ian Astbury Denying Led Zeppelin Comment

Doors… I mean, The Cult singer Ian Astbury denies making a statement at a Cult show that his band would open up for Led Zeppelin on its North American tour. To Gigwise, Astbury claims the noise of the concert made people hear his comments wrong. What he really said was along the lines of: “Wouldn’t it be great if the The Cult could tour with them?”

My question is, why did Ian wait so long to dispute the comment. Something smells fishy.

Hey, maybe Ian can sing for Zeppelin instead of Robert Plant? Plant obviously doesn’t care. Astbury sang for the Doors — filling in for the great Jim Morrison — why not replace Robert Plant?

Personally, I wouldn’t be into that arrangement but Jim Morrison is a hard act to follow. And Ian attempted it. If he can fill in for Jim, he can fill in for Robert.

Don’t think Jimmy Page wouldn’t consider it. LOL
