Slash It Up

Slash response to Weiland response: Velvet Revolver is relieved that the singer is gone.

He also tells Rolling Stone that it has been a long time coming, and the split has nothing to do with the STP reunion. And no vocal replacement as of yet.

Weiland recommended Skid Rower Sebastian Bach. Slash seemed insulted by that suggestion:

“I thought [Weiland] could be a little bit more imaginative. I’m not sure if that was meant to be a pot shot or what. Whatever, it’s not worth any real drama.”

Where’s Axl? Maybe he can join, in-between work on Chinese Democracy?

  1. I feel really bad for Slash & Duff. They were in one of the greatest rock bands of all time and their singer destroyed it. Then they were able to put together another successful group and *that* singer tried to dismantle it.

I’m glad they plan on continuing VR without Weiland. I was worried this breakup would have them throwing their hands up at trying to have some sort of stable band.

I wonder if it’ll be a “name” replacement or an unknown? Bach would musically be a great choice, IMO, but career suicide (”80s band” tag). He didn’t pass the test originally though, so I can’t imagine they’d go back to him.

  2. You know Scott Wieland has seemed to have had some serious Musicianship issues. If he can’t pull it together and put his ego as a “front-man” aside, then he shouldn’t by any means be allowed to carry that responsibility.
Slash would make a better leading man then Wieland. Then again, Slash has had his issues as well. Be it drugs, booze…he defiantly could be out of his element accusing Wieland of not being imaginative enough.
