Frank the Baptist

Frank the Baptist are the freshest new band to enter the Goth genre since Sopor Aeternus. Having no similarity to the great Sopor Aetrenus, nor really to Fields of the Nephilim, Bauhaus, Christian Death or Sisters of Mercy for that matter. Frank the Baptist and carving their own path and thats something rarely if ever done in the goth genre. Lately the Misfits have been the sole motivating factor of newly formed Goth bands all taking note on both their music and appearance really leaving the genre a bit stale. Tiger Army has an interesting approach with their strong rockabilly influence and Crampish leanings but Frank the Baptist is no where near any of that. They draw from New Wave and folk it seems mostly and while their debut has strong hints of 80s English pop their latest “The New Colossus” is a whole new animal entirely. This is the new way of Goth and surely in a very short time Frank the Baptist will over take the mainstream in a very big way!

A little Clockwork Orange influenced, eh?
