Paint it Blackpool

According to the U.K. paper, The Telegraph, the city of Blackpool, U.K. has decided to lift its ban on the Rolling Stones. The city banned the rock band after they were accused of inciting a riot at a concert at the Empress Ballroom.

The concert was in 1964.

Look at the above photo. The only riot these guys will be inciting now has to be in their collective memories.

The Rolling Stones’ response: Don’t do drugs.

No, really, they did say that recently. But not in response to the 44 year old ban that was just lifted.

  1. John Curley Says:

Now that Blackpool has lifted their ban on the Stones, I wonder if Holiday Inn is going to lift their ban on The Who. The Who were banned for life from Holiday Inns in 1967 after causing thousands of dollars in damage to a Holiday Inn in Flint, Michigan while celebrating Keith Moon’s 21st birthday. (The Who were touring America with Herman’s Hermits at the time.)

  2. The remains of the Who ain’t staying at no Holiday Inn! And this lifted bans smells like a publicity stunt! Does Blackpool have a soccer stadium large enough to satisfy these greedy bastards?
