Sick of The Cook

I know comedian Dane Cook is the hippest comic as rock star going, selling out arenas everywhere (a second show was just added to NY’s Madison Square Garden in November), but after watching his TBS baseball playoffs commercial 20 zillion times throughout the month of October, I am sick to death of his schtick. At some shows tickets are going for a ticket price of over 100 bucks. I would rather sit at home and watch a night of Comedy Central at home for free.
Saturday Night Live did a great parody of the Dane Cook MLB commercial, click on the link below. Out!

A half ass Jim Carey… I brought my son to see him in NYC for his 11th Bday cuz he was a huge fan. He was 11. His warm-up act was far better and actually had jokes. Wheres Mitch Hedberg when you need him? Oh yeah he’s dead.

Any comic that plays arenas has to be pretty bland and mediocre to appeal to such a mainstream audience. I don’t particularly like rock concerts being held in hockey arenas. I certiainly don’t like stand-up comedy shows in 20,000-seater barns. How can a comic connect with someone sitting 500 feet away from the stage in level 400?
Cook is safe comedy. No edge, no attitude, no nothing. Hence, his appearance on the lame MLB promo spots. Besides, he roots for Satan’s team, the Boston Red Sox. That’s a big strike against him right there. :)

I kind of like this guy. He’s a rocker. Not as funny as Carrot-Head but he makes me chuckle. The only thing I noticed about the MLB playoffs is the absence of a certain overpaid bunch of all-stars from the Bronx.

And the Red Sox aren’t overpaid? They are “Evil Empire” lite.
